James D. McQueen Born 8/25/1843 in Butler County, Alabama James and his twin brother Samuel M. McQueen enlisted in Company H in 1862. Samuel was killed in 1864 and is buried in the Confederate Cemetary in Marietta, Georgia. James survived the war and married Gillie Merrit. Soon a son, John, was born to the couple on October 12, 1868. Unfortunately, John died on March 15, 1873. Gillie followed her son two year later on August 10, 1875, and James died on October 7, 1876. James, Gillie, and John are buried in Prattville, Alabama. James McQueen is an ancestor of Private John McQueen of the modern-day 33rd Alabama, Company E. |
