From the Pulpit

By Chaplain John King

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  I have been asked to start back an inspirational column for the resurrected “ Cleburne” newsletter and I must say I am happy to know that someone has finally begun to take on this task.  I know everyone is busy these days, myself included, so I would like to thank Paul Wolbeck for his endeavors.  I would also like to say what an honor it is to be counted worthy to write down a few words that will help and inspire each member of the 33rd to grow and become better acquainted with Jesus.  May God anoint these words by his Holy Spirit and may each person receive them in the love that they were written.

I love this time of year in January.  It is the time of a new year and with that new beginnings, new goals, new trials, and new victories.  Let me encourage everyone to set aside a time soon to seek the Lord and his direction for your life at the start of this year.  Last year we saw many things, many blessings, and many trials.  All that is behind us now and we can start afresh.  Remember that if you look for God in your past, He is not there. His name is not I Was.  If you look for God in the future, He is not there. His name is not I Will Be.  But if you look for God today, you will find Him! In Exodus 3:14 the Bible says that God’s name is I AM!

It is good to remember and learn from the past, as living historians that is what we do, but we must live in the “I AM” moment of today.  2 Cor. 6:2 says, “NOW is the day of salvation.”  Hebrews 3:7 says, “TODAY if you will hear his voice…” and again in verse 13, “but exhort one another daily, while it is called TODAY…” So we can see from these few verses that God is a “NOW” God!  Let’s call upon Him TODAY!

In His Service,

John
